How to Remove a Broken Key from a Lock Without the Help of a Specialist.

Here’s how to get the broken key

Did you ever break your key in a lock? Unfortunately, this can happen very easily. The key crashes, you try to turn it and after putting a little more power it breaks in the middle. As a result, you stay with half in your hands and the other half in the lock, you can not remove it or open the lock. Sometimes there is no other way than shouting locks, but first, you can try to remove it yourself.

Just follow these tips!

Do you see a piece of the key protruding from the lock? Then you are lucky. Use some oil or WD-40 to lubricate the lock. We like to use the WD-40 as it has a long tube that makes it easier to spray into the lock. Spread enough oil and try to spray between the key and the cylinder. After you lightly lock the lock, use a pliers to pull the key.

When it’s gone deep
Is your key wedged and you can not catch it? Do not be disappointed, there may be a solution. If possible, use a strong magnet to pull the rest of the key. The problem of this vagina is that most do not have such a powerful magnet, but even if you have the key it can remain wedged. Another trick is to put a little glue on the other half of the key and try to reattach it. Wait for a while and then try to pull it.
If these tricks do not work, do not despair. We have a last and safe method.

For this method you will need a very small saw (saw type) as shown in the picture below. Be sure to use a perfect metal blade and teeth in good condition. Use a pliers to cut the saw in such a way that it has teeth aside and is not smooth. Make sure that at the end of the saw there is a large tooth that you will use as a hook.

How does it work
Put the blade in the lock with the teeth facing your side as if they are small hooks. This will make the saw as a fishing rod in your attempt to pull the key out of the lock. Move the blade up and try to remove the key. It may take a while, but once you catch it well the key will be thrown out.

Was the key locked? Perfect! Now all you have to do is find another key and open the lock. If you do not have a second key, you can turn to a locksmith to replace your broken key. However, this is only done if it has been broken in the middle. Otherwise, you may need to replace the lock.
